Q: What is the age range for participation?

A: Japan Preschool Exchange is a program targeting children from 0 to 6 years old (preschool age). However, the acceptable age range may vary depending on the preschool at the destination and availability. Please consult with the operations desk for more details.
You can confirm the target school years in the regulations for Japanese preschools in the following table. In Japanese preschools, the classes follow a one-year cycle starting in April and ending in March.

Q: Can I participate even if I don't speak Japanese?

A: This program welcomes participants who do not speak Japanese. However, the childcare environment is primarily in the Japanese style, and the language used is Japanese. The childcare staff and children are also Japanese. Participants can experience life in a preschool setting as if they were living in Japan, with exposure to Japanese childcare practices and interaction with Japanese children.

Q: Is it possible to choose the duration of the stay?

A: The basic stay durations are available in 1-week, 2-week, and 3-week plans. If you wish to stay longer than that, please consult with the operation desk.
 

Q: What months are available for participation in the program?

A: It is available throughout the year. However, as it is a program for temporary child care attendance in preschools that typically offer regular childcare services, availability depends on the vacant slots. Additionally, please note that on Japanese national holidays, the preschool will be closed, and there will be no reduction in fees even if your stay coincides with a holiday. Please be aware of this policy in advance.
 

Q: Is it possible to specify preferred check-in and check-out days?

A: This program typically follows a Sunday check-in and Saturday check-out schedule. While the accommodation facility will accommodate specific preferences when possible, please note that even if the duration of stay is shortened, a reduction in fees may not be possible. Thank you for your understanding.
 

Q: What is included in the program?

Q: When does the cancellation fee apply?

A: If you cancel your reservation due to your circumstances after booking, the following cancellation fees will apply:

  • 1 The 'cancellation date' refers to the date when the customer notifies us of the cancellation at our email address (support@hoikuen-ryugaku.zendesk.com), excluding weekends and holidays. Please be aware of this in advance.
  • 2 The 'reservation date' refers to the point in time when the customer submits a reservation request through the reservation link.
  • Changes or cancellations to accommodation fees will be subject to separate Arranged Travel Terms and Conditions under Travel Agency Terms and Conditions, as well as cancellation fees and modification fees related to our accommodation arrangements (Travel Agency: KidsHike, Inc., Registered Travel Agency No. 2-8280 by the Governor of Tokyo).
  • The amount varies depending on the duration of the stay.
  • For changes to the itinerary after booking, it will be treated as a cancellation followed by rebooking, incurring similar cancellation fees.
  • Due to preparations on the preschool side and coordination with accommodation facilities, cancellation or itinerary changes approaching the trip's start date will result in additional costs. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in covering these expenses.


Q: When is the timing of credit card payments?

A: At the time of booking, we will send each customer a direct reservation link. Please enter your information through the reservation link and complete the credit card guarantee. At this stage, it is a guarantee, and the actual payment will be processed on the first day of your participation. Please ensure that you use a valid card capable of settling the full program fee.


Q: Is it possible to make payments using multiple credit cards?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate multiple credit cards for payment. If making payment with a credit card is difficult, we can provide instructions for a bank transfer. Please inquire with the operation desk for assistance. However, please note that bank transfers are handled as irregular procedures, and any fees related to the bank transfer, as well as transfer fees in the event of a refund due to cancellation, will be the responsibility of the customer. We appreciate your understanding in advance.


Q: Is it possible to be on a cancellation waiting list?

A: We are not currently accepting cancellation waiting lists. As the availability and cancellation status are subject to real-time changes, please contact our operations desk for the latest information.

Q: Is it possible to participate even if my child is not currently attending preschool?

A: In general, it is possible, but it depends on the specific preschool. Please consult with the operations desk for more details.


Q: Is it possible to reserve only daycare at the preschool and arrange accommodation separately on my own?

A: We are sorry, but that is not possible. This program is sold as a package, including both childcare and accommodation fees.
